Once you have arrived in Albany, come down to Due South to register for the conference and enjoy a few drinks and some food whilst catching up with your favourite bunch of fish scientists. The venue is located on the edge of Princess Royal Harbour and is right next door to the Albany Entertainment Centre where the conference will kick off the following morning.

Following the introduction of the many talented ASFB students during the first day’s Rapid Talks, the networking will continue at the more relaxed environment that is the pub. Come down for some drinks, nibbles and perhaps even a dance as there will be live music on from 9pm. This event is not limited to students, we encourage all conference registrants to attend.

Public Lecture

This event will showcase some of the key topics including Assessing Fish Stocks, Tropical reef fish & climate change, The Great Southern Reef, Freshwater fishes of WA, Social and economic dimensions of fishing, to interested Albany locals. Come down to listen to a selection of presenters deliver talks that you may have otherwise missed during the conference, and contribute to the subsequent Q&A session when the community members will get their chance to have a say. The lecture will be followed by some drinks and canapés.

Conference Bash


As part of the three-day conference registration, we invite you to come down to this rustic, waterfront venue to help wrap up another ASFB conference and celebrate the different award winners. This year we will be staying clear of white tablecloths and shiny silverware but promise to provide great food and local wine, as well as live music to help you showcase your best dance moves. To keep warm, make sure you wear a few extra layers which can be easily shed once the dancing kicks off!
